D. N. Angel stars Daisuke, a middle school klutz with a wicked crush on Risa. On his 14th
birthday, Daisuke finally decides to deliver Risa a love letter. He plans every single aspect of that morning in excruciating
detail, all the way down to boarding the train at the exact right time in the exact right car, just so he can "casually" run
into her. Then, every thing goes south: Construction causes the train to stop short of the of the platform, triggering a chain
of events that throws off Daisuke’s entire game. The end result: Daisuke finally gets things back on track (barely!),
and he’s about to hand Risa the note when she casually tells him she treasure him- but only as a friend!
Later that afternoon, Daisuke returns home to find out that his body is the vessel for the
phantom thief Dark, and his transformation into his dashing alter ego is triggered by a "love gene." in other words, every
time he sees Risa, he risks turning into someone who’s a lot cooler than himself but he seem to turn back to normal
when Dark see’s Risa’s twin, Riku. Nonetheless, Dark appears as planned, stealing art and leaving his calling
card, avoiding authorities and sending the town into a lizzy.
